CENTRA Breaks Ground on RNO2
RENO’S FIRST CARRIER-NEUTRAL INTERCONNECTION DATA CENTER
CENTRA is proud to announce the groundbreaking of RNO2, our new 12 MW carrier-neutral interconnection data center in Reno, Nevada. As the second CENTRA facility in the market, RNO2 represents a major investment in sustainable infrastructure, low-latency connectivity, and the expansion of CENTRA’s national interconnection platform. Reno continues to stand out as a strong, scalable, and AI-ready market.
Strategically located near metro fiber rings and long-haul points of presence (PoPs), RNO2 will serve as a critical interconnection hub, providing direct, low-latency access to leading national networks, content platforms, and cloud providers. The facility is engineered to support the demands of AI-ready workloads, edge deployments, and modern, high-resiliency colocation environments.
Purpose Built for Performance
Designed to support next-generation workloads, RNO2 delivers Tier III+ resiliency with a fault-tolerant, high-availability architecture, including:
- 12 MW of scalable critical capacity
- Four diverse points of entry for physically redundant fiber access
- Fully redundant Meet-Me Rooms for carrier and network interconnection
- Distributed redundant power (5/4) and N+1 cooling systems
- Flexible deployment options, including high-density, AI-ready racks and cages, as well as custom-built NNN Suites
- Liquid cooling capabilities

Expanding the CENTRA Interconnection Experience
RNO2 also represents a continued evolution of the CENTRA customer experience. By expanding our footprint in Reno, we are enabling customers to deploy infrastructure closer to users, cloud on-ramps, and regional ecosystems—reducing latency and improving performance across distributed environments. This new modern data center integrates seamlessly with CENTRA’s national interconnection platform, giving organizations the ability to design resilient, multi-market network architectures that support hybrid-cloud strategies, AI deployments, and long-term growth.
A Model for Sustainable Digital Infrastructure
By transforming and developing a modernized facility, CENTRA is dramatically reducing environmental impact while accelerating time to market. RNO2 will showcase:
- Energy-efficient air-cooled closed loop system, including free cooling for nearly half the year, that is scalable to support our initial deployment and future growth.
- Green power procurement through NV Energy’s renewable programs
- LEED-aligned design, EV charging, and robust e-waste recycling and construction waste management initiatives
Strengthening Reno’s Strategic Advantage
Reno has rapidly become one of the most critical connectivity corridors in the Western United States. Its proximity to major metros, growing fiber density, access to renewable energy, and competitive business environment make it an ideal location for digital infrastructure expansion. RNO2 strengthens this position by providing the interconnection foundation needed to support the region’s expanding digital economy—from logistics and manufacturing to gaming, AI innovation, and cloud-driven enterprises. With scalable, low-latency infrastructure, RNO2 enables Nevada businesses to grow in an increasingly data-driven world.
A Catalyst for Regional Growth
RNO2 will deliver essential digital infrastructure to support the growth and transformation of businesses across Northern Nevada and the broader Western region. The project brings local contractor engagement, high-quality job creation, and a new platform for regional connectivity—reducing latency and enhancing performance for enterprises, service providers, and the surrounding community. “RNO2 represents a major step forward in strengthening Reno’s role as a critical interconnection hub for the Western U.S.,” said Shelly Greco, VP of Sales at CENTRA. “This facility reflects our commitment to building the modern, sustainable infrastructure that today’s AI-driven and cloud-connected businesses depend on.”

Let’s Build the Future of Connectivity – Together
RNO2 is more than a data center—it’s a regional engine for innovation and a critical piece of CENTRA’s national platform. Let’s connect.
