CENTRA Breaks Ground on MSP1
Eagan’s First Carrier-Neutral Interconnection Data Center
CENTRA is proud to announce the groundbreaking of MSP1, a new 12 MW carrier-neutral interconnection data center in Eagan, Minnesota. Through the adaptive reuse of a former enterprise-owned facility, MSP1 represents a bold investment in sustainable infrastructure, low-latency connectivity, and the expansion of CENTRA’s national interconnection platform.
Strategically located near metro fiber rings and long-haul points of presence (POPs), MSP1 will serve as a critical interconnection hub, providing direct, low-latency access to leading networks, content platforms, and cloud providers. The facility is engineered to support the demands of AI-ready workloads, edge deployments, and modern, high-resiliency colocation environments.
Purpose Built for Performance
As a Tier III+ facility, MSP1 is designed from the ground up to deliver fault-tolerant, high-availability infrastructure:
- 12 MW of scalable critical capacity
- Four diverse points of entry for physically redundant fiber access
- Fully redundant Meet-Me Rooms for carrier and network interconnection
- Distributed redundant power (4/3) and N+1 cooling systems
- Flexible deployment options, including high-density, AI-ready racks and cages, as well as custom-built NNN Suites
A Model for Sustainable Digital Infrastructure
By transforming and modernizing an existing facility, CENTRA is dramatically reducing environmental impact while accelerating time to market. MSP1 will showcase:
- Energy-efficient refrigerant-based cooling, including free cooling for nearly half the year
- Green power procurement through Dakota Electric’s renewable programs
- LEED-aligned design, EV charging, and robust e-waste recycling and construction waste management initiatives
